Late June every year is a time of change in the Rotary world.
All 34,000 Rotary clubs around the world conduct a changeover ceremony which brings new leadership, new ideas, a new theme and renewed vitality to each club.
On Saturday night 1/07/2017, Jimboomba Rotary held their annual changeover dinner at Albert Winery.
The theme during David's term as president was “Rotary Serving Humanity”
The dinner saw outgoing president David Kenny reflect on the year that was, thank members for going above and beyond for the club and community, and induct incoming president Ray McCabbin into the role.
Presidents Report 2016-2017
Time fly’s when you’re having fun and hasn’t this year flown,
its 12 months since Geoff Smith handed the reins to me and now it’s my turn to do the same to Ray McCabbin.
And what a year we have had as a Club and I must thank my hard-working board and our members for their support
and as I reflect on the year a big smile comes over my face as I can now say I have been President of
the World’s Best Smallest Rotary Club and this past year just proves again Jimboomba punches above its weight level.
Firstly, we welcomed the irrepressible German Youth Exchange Student Maike Adolf and what a breath of
fresh air she has been and certainly embraced of club and added to the fun of our club nights,
we will miss her but look forward to welcoming USA YEP Annika into our family in late July.
We welcomed 23 Honorary Members into our club and registered an Interact Club at Hills College,
the later having already collected and delivered goods for Donations in Kind.
We hosted a very successful night for Rotary’s 112 Birthday Party at Hills and the Interact Club
lead by Komo supported the Hospitality unit of the college,
we again supported Vanuatu and Cambodia programs along with various other clubs,
flood victims and individuals in the Logan area as you can see by the following director’s reports
with a sum at the time of writing of over $63,000.
But by far the standout was the South-East Qld Expo lead by John and Rhonda and the donations to Heart of Australia,
Life Flight and Jimboomba Hall will have long term positive effects on all three recipients.
I done a few good things in my life, being a Member of the Jimboomba Rotary Clubs is right up there with the
best of them and thank you all for giving me the privilege of being your President 2016-2017.
